WORKSHOP: Finding Empowerment through the Art of Clowning

Course Description:
No experience required for exploring the transformative power of clowning! Participants will engage in physical exploration, exploring their playful, spontaneous, and authentic selves. Through improvisation, physical theater techniques, and a focus on presence, we’ll dive into the world of the clown, learning to embrace vulnerability, timing, and audience connection. The workshop is designed to build confidence and encourage creativity, offering a safe space to experiment, fail, and find joy in the ridiculous.

None needed.

What Should I Bring?
Water and a notebook for general note-taking. Wear comfy clothes and shoes fit for movement.

Instructor:
Katie Rebich is a teacher and performer based in Hillsborough, NC. She went to circus school, and her formal circus training was in Chicago, IL at Aloft Circus Arts as a part of their Full Time Training Program. She majored in rope ladder (a self-designed apparatus) and minored in stilt dance. Katie has taken many intensives throughout North America in clown, and the majority of her training is with Dody DiSanto of The Center for Movement Theatre in Washington, D.C., and with Giovanni Fusetti of Helikos in Padua, Italy. Her clown style can be categorized as contemporary.
