Workshop Description:
Dive into creating bold, funny, and playable solo characters for sketch comedy. Students will learn how to build fully realized characters from the inside out.
Through a mix of guided exercises, writing prompts, and on-your-feet performance, participants will develop original solo characters for sketch comedy.
We’ll focus on heightening choices, finding the game of the character, and making strong edits so sketches stay focused and punchy. Emphasis is placed on clarity, specificity, and performing with confidence.
This workshop is ideal for improvisers and writers who want to expand their character toolbox, strengthen solo performance skills, or generate material for stage, audition, or video work.
Workshop Length: 2.5 hours
Prerequisite: Some performance experience required.
What Should I Bring? Comfy clothes for movement and a notebook to take notes. Please bring a full water bottle.
Please read our Lab FAQ & Policies and Covid Policies before signing up for a class or workshop.
