This week:
Oh the places I wish I could think of to go…. (Part 1) with Paula Pazderka

I’m blank. I got nothing.  Maybe I can move these chairs around for a few seconds.  What happened in the opening?  Come on, Shi*tbird brain.

This two-part workshop focuses on inspiration, turning off that internal judge and coming up not with just one idea, but a few of what to do next in a scene.

The first workshop will have exercises that focus remembering intros, nuggets, characters and scenes in a long form piece.  The second workshop will focus on where to go in a scene when you’ve reached that a critical moment and you’re not edited or you have no idea where to go next.

Although these workshops are connected, students don’t need to be in the first class to take or enjoy the second.

Paula Pazderka has been studying and performing improv and theater for over 20 years.  She started studying improv in Chicago under inspiring teachers such as Susan Messing, Mick Napier and Charna Halpern. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2007, she started her tenure at the DSI Comedy Theater where she served as School and Camp Director, as well as class Instructor for nearly 10 years. Paula now serves as Mettlesome Lab Director where she collaborates with local artists to create curriculums so that they may educate others about their artistry. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the Art Institute of Chicago, is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), has a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington School of Business and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Education Certificate from NC State.

Drop-ins are taught by experienced teachers/artists and are curated by Mettlesome Lab leadership for the best damn learning experience you can hope for.
