Bull City Press Presents: Love Poem Night

  • Mettlesome 800 Taylor St. Suite 9-156 Durham, NC 27701 USA (map)

Come ready to this reading series from Durham’s own Bull City Press for engaging poetry, fiction, and nonfiction from established and emerging writers.

Saturday, February 14 at 6pm (book signing at 5:45pm) – Love Poem Night with Amanda Bennett, Taylor Brunson, Carlina Duan, Erin Miller, and Golden Age Comedy

Carrboro Poet Laureate Amanda Bennett is a poet who writes about desire, memory, and the quiet choices that shape a life. Her work lingers in the body as much as the mind, tracing love, grief, and Black interiority with tenderness and wit. She believes poetry should feel like an invitation—sometimes to laugh, sometimes to ache, sometimes to stay a little longer than planned.

Taylor Brunson is a North Carolina poet who graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2019. Her work has been featured in Moist Poetry Journal and The Ex-Puritan and she can be found on Twitter, @taylorthefox.

Carlina Duan is a poet, educator, and scholar. She is the author of I Wore My Blackest Hair (Little A, 2017); and Alien Miss (Univ. of Wisconsin Press, 2021), a finalist for the Brittingham and Felix Pollak Prize and the Midwest Book Awards.

Erin L. Miller is a queer poet who works in tech. She is the author of the poetry chapbook Inner Species from Unicorn Press. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing at Bowling Green State University. Her poetry and reviews have appeared in Best New Poets, The Pinch, Whiskey Island, Bluestem, Black Warrior Review, and others. She lives in Durham, North Carolina with her dog Maeve.
