Spirited! Courageous! Willing to face the unexpected!
To be a Mettlesome Kid is to be willing to express yourself and share your creative spirit.

Our program puts young people in the director’s chair. Over the course of six weeks, the Mettlesome Kids work in small teams to create a series of original (sometimes VERY ORIGINAL) performances to share with friends and family.  Alongside our crackerjack team of Mettlesome teaching artists, these weekly workshops transform imagination into reality teaching confidence, collaboration and encouraging creativity along the way.

But what about the learning objectives? And GOALS? Our leaders have those too.

We want to:

  • inspire creativity and further individual artistic expression and personal development.

  • provide positive, nurturing attention that values each individual young person.

  • encourage teamwork and collaboration, using the improv technique of “Yes and…” to work successfully as a group.

  • give the fulfilling experience of seeing project through from conception to completion.

  • build confidence in self-expression and self-esteem both on stage and in life.

we want To have parents and guardians laughing to exclaim,
“if it weren't for those mettlesome kids!”
